An old hog breeder once told me, “Jimmy when you’re building a breeding herd you’ve got to start with the strongest females in the industry, then no matter which sires you use they’ll always make up for his weaknesses.”

That was the thought with the selection of our foundation females. We wanted the sires of these females to have solid inheritable traits that we wanted to see passed onto their offspring. That’s why all of our foundation females are hand picked solid producing Refuge females.

It only made sense to leverage The Refuge’s 20 years of breeding the biggest and the best to “spring board” our herd to the forefront of the industry. It’s our goal to take these animals to the next level.
